"never confuse shit with chocolate. they may look the same, but they taste very different. i would know the difference." yeah, this is an actual line spoken by jared leto's character, and unfortunately it isn't even the worst piece of dialogue in the movie. house of gucci overstays its welcome BY A LOT, padding scenes with stares and pauses that add nothing to the plot. the predictable plot crams several events spanning a number of years in its 2h38 runtime,…

an incredibly heartwarming fairy tale. sciamma keeps her story small-scale and intimate and allows us to look at the world through the eyes of an 8 y/o girl. the warm and comforting cinematography with genius use of colour and the deft timing of music allow the great screenplay to flourish.

    movie #100 of 2021!

watched this w/ sasha and she loved it too :D

vibrant colours, lively music and playful lighting come together to create a memorable atmosphere in edgar wright's new film. thomasin mckenzie is both charming and relatable, and I loved her! sadly, the final act stumbles and eventually crumbles, struggling to come up with ways to solve the main plot points. this movie also deserves better dialogue for the secondary characters! some bits came off as being really cringy and cliché.

last night in soho constantly shifts back and forth between tones and genres, but it fails to excel at any of them.

an unconventional and twisted tale of love and power dynamics. perhaps pta's most style-over-substance film?
