    A Short Film About Killing

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Did not expect this kind of film from the man who made Les Trois Couleurs.

Much darker than those, and somehow more stylized than blue. The murder is pretty hard to watch. Really well shot ! The use of parallels in this is explicit, but well done: if we consider people who kill by strangulation monsters, why are we accepting people can be killed in the exact same way as retribution ?

Another pretty good film from Schrader !

His weakest effort out of those I've seen, but I can still watch an underwhelming Paul Schrader flick anytime a day. Felt a lot like a more stylized Bresson film - with more emotions displayed on screen obviously lol.

Went to see this litterally on the first time slot it was available lol.

And well it's the first half of Dune version Denis Villeneuve, as expected. Beautiful cinematography (if a little gray at times) and great editing are on par for the course. Rebecca Ferguson stands out among a stacked cast. The music is one of Zimmer's best in quite some time.

The film makes a couple changes compared to the novel, especially at the beginning, but honestly they…

Still shocked that is a Hollywood film distributed by a major film studio.

Because it's absolutely radical in its criticism of the system. The police and the feds are literally a mob protecting it, disregarding the laws they're supposed to care about, killing people they feel threatened by. Violence from revolutionary or radical groups happen, obviously, but it's rooted in systemic oppression.

And as the titular "messiah", Daniel Kaluuya is absolutely incredible in this. Insanely charismatic. It's not hard to…
