Showdown: It's Good News Week

Extra, extra! Hold the presses! Breaking: everybody loves a humble investigative hero. Where would big-screen journalism be without a cynical, chain-smoking newspaper editor? A pretty vacant news anchor? A newsroom love triangle? A deep-throated source? Whether fictional or based on true events, in print, radio or on television, we want you to blow the whistle on the best films about journalism, because we’re mad as hell, and we’re not gonna take this fake news anymore.

Another of my favourite genres (see previous lists here and here) and this Showdown is another I seem to have spookily pre-empted after having watched Christine earlier today.

Shame that neither HBO's The Newsroom or BBC2's The Hour can't be included, because they were the best, but there is the original mini-series of State of Play included here, which is infinitely more superior than the big screen Hollywood remake.
