    Santa Claus

    "By Satan, there he is!"
Also known as Santa Claus vs. the Devil, this is a true christmas oddity if there ever was one. The capitalist marketing scheme that is Santa Claus is turned into a deity who is actively battling Lucifer's minions. The arguments made by Santa deniers like, "how does he make toys for all the kids in just one year!?" and "how does he fit in all the chimneys!?" It's simple, Santa is God. He transcends time…

    An American Werewolf in London

"The undead surround me. Have you ever talked to a corpse? It's boring! I'm lonely! Kill yourself, David, before you kill others."
This is the film (along with Fargo and Dr. Strangelove) that comes to mind when I think of a black comedy. Perfectly trading between extreme violence and hilarious situatonal comedy. Much weirder and more random than I remember, I'm surprised a film like this was actually made. It constantly switches between soap opera romance, body horror, abstract, surreal,…

"Unlike your friend Danny I choose only perfect moments. Perfect moments to work out perfect destinies for so many lives."
Creepy and pretty mean-spirited. Ending is off the fuckin walls.

    The Grudge 2

"It will never stop it will grow. it will hurt anyone it touches."
I should probably have watched Ju-On: The Grudge 2 before watching the remake but I had this on DVD and the "UNRATED DIRECTORS CUT / EXTRA FOOTAGE TOO SCARY FOR THEATERS!" was too tempting. Turns out the unrated cut only has like a tiny bit of extra blood during one scene towards the beginning so that was pretty disappointing. Overall decently competent horror that's dry on the…

    Freddy vs. Jason

"Being dead wasn't a problem, but being forgotten, now that's a BITCH"
I wouldn't go as far as to put this film on the same level as Rob Zombie's Halloween II. Halloween II is a misunderstood modern masterpiece. Freddy vs. Jason is a film that caters to all my personal horror needs. One is a critically disliked masterpiece and one is a critically disliked movie that I fucking love.
Anyway, why did I give this seemingly stupid cash grab five…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

"I'd done too much to turn back, and I'd done too much to go on."
A brutal coming-of-age film. An anti-Lady Bird in its realistic violence and tragic finale. Easily mistakable as a glorification of the lifestyle with its convertible Mustangs and flashy gold rims, but are the cars worth dying over?
The ending truly brought me close to tears, maybe even more so than Boyz N the Hood, an untouchable masterpiece.
