    Nice cast, but that's about all it has going for it. I do wonder what the role of something like this was, pre-TV. Were people supposed to take notes in the theater? Were there recipe cards in the lobby? Though to be honest, I watch cooking TV shows with zero intention of actually cooking anything, so why not put 'em in theaters?

    Was slightly underwhelmed, probably due to it's sterling reputation (though it's length did it no favors). Well worth seeing on its own merits and due to its enormous influence on a dominant genre of film, but maybe temper your expectations just a bit.

    I'm being a bit generous in my rating, primarily because the last 40 minutes or so of this film is solid (certainly the most consistently visually interesting portion of the film). But I can't recommend a three hour movie based on the final 20% alone. The rest of this film was a hard slog. Slow pacing, and somewhat disappointing action scenes. Perhaps, watching this 45+ years later, I can't appreciate how innovative this might have been in its time. But…
