Elizabeth Moss is fantastic and manages to sell the whole thing, and considering how much of the movie is her by herself reacting to empty rooms that's no small feat. There are some super tense moments in this, and it's surprisingly light on jump scares for a Blumhouse movie*. My only big issue was the score. It's fine during quiet moments, but when scenes with more action are happening it becomes so loud and bombastic that it would almost be…

Decently creepy, but you know it’s fiction because she uses Bing.

The first segment isn't great and it feels a bit obvious, but the second and third are delightfully and darkly weird. The whole thing has a creepy vibe thanks to the stop motion style. If you want a movie that feels like something you repressed as a child because it gave you nightmares, or if you just want to break the seal on 2022 viewing, it's not bad at all.

Maggie Cheung kills it as always. Most of the film crew give some wonderfully natural performances. The entire thing feels pretty much like a documentary. It did take a while to get into the rhythm of it, especially with the thick accents on some of the people making it hard to understand at first. Some bad weather here split my viewing in half, so I may have to watch it again down the road without interruption.

Basically a carbon copy of the original. Demons escape from a movie and people become trapped in a building, meanwhile a carload of punks is heading for the location. Eventually a new demon climbs out of someone.
The horror genre thrives on carbon copies though, and this one isn’t bad.  The scope is a bit bigger as the story expands to a state of the art apartment complex. The effects work is good and some of the demon designs are…

    Maniac Cop 2

A pretty unremarkable slasher, but it’s got a couple of good set pieces. The runaway car bit was cool, and the finale is insane enough to make the whole thing worth it... and Danny Trejo is in it for about 6 seconds.
The downside of this one is the serial killer Cordell teams up with is so uninteresting, and honestly so is Cordell. The original worked because it focused on interesting protagonists abs showed the effects of the situation…
