    And Now the Screaming Starts!

    ★★★

There is such a fantastic core idea behind And Now the Screaming Starts that it's rather disappointing that this film ends up being so mundane in telling it. It has some great moments, visually or in some of the performances, but the emotional narrative weirdly falls flat and the film lacks this sense of urgency to its atmosphere that it feels far more like it's just shambling from kill to kill.

If anything, I could totally see this film being primed for a remake.

Thus far, perhaps the weakest of the Hammer Frankenstein films, this lite reboot that features ANOTHER retelling of the original Frankenstein story is a rather mundane one, running through the motions and lacking effective character performance for the lead role. There are a few interesting ideas paddled around in its narrative and plot, but it never quite grabs them in any real way to be substantive for its audience.

Fincher, you mad genius bastard! Only he could take a film like this and make into a riveting, roller coaster emotional thriller that has even the most intelligent of movie goer leaning whatever which way he wants them to go. It's intoxicating in its subtlety, brimming with impressive performances, and challenging in its delivery. Bravo, good sir.
