    Alex Garland is such a visually distinct director, so capable of fully realizing his ideas. Technically, this is at least as significant an achievement as Ex Machina. From a thematic standpoint, it’s also impressive. The way concept and theme are so intrinsically woven together is really quite something.

    This film has some of the most complex, surprising, and therefore compellingly fascinating, Christology I've ever seen. It certainly blows pretty much every other Christmas movie out of the water in that department, and that's why - with apologies to Die Hard, It's a Wonderful Life, and A Charlie Brown Christmas - this will always be my favorite Christmas movie.

    Not sure why I liked this as much as I did the first time. This time it just felt a lot shorter, and the ending was just really abrupt. None of the story threads seemed to resolve. I think the problem lies somewhere in the decision to cut the power to the Regal Cinemas an hour before the end of the movie. I’m no expert, but I imagine that had something to do with it.
